Install Windows Phone 7.8 on Nokia Lumia phones (Tutorial)

The first thing you need  NaviFirm that  here  you can download. With this tool, you can scan the Nokia server for updates and download the appropriate version for your phone.

Then you need a tool with which you can flash the software on your mobile phone. To this end, we are the Nokia Care Suite 5.0 use, the need to install it as opposed to NaviFirm on your PC.

If you, the Visual C + + packs not have it on your computer, you will be prompted to install it. NaviFirm for ye also the . NET Framework version 4.0  required.

Connect the Windows Phone to a PC

Once you have finished the installation, are you starting out the Nokia Care Suite and select the Application Launcher, the "Product Support Tool for Store" and launches it.

                         
If your device is not recognized (as in our picture), you have to install the additional drivers, which are located in the following path:

'C :/ Program Files (x86) / Nokia / Nokia Care Suite / Driver '

                 
With the Nokia Care Suite you see in the attached device info on the right side. Here you have to you  in any case write down the product code of your device  and is best stored in a text file! This code will be shortly before the update is very important.

Then it creates the correct download path. In the end it should look like this:

C :/ Program Data / Nokia / Offers / Products / [Unit]

In our Nokia Lumia 610 of the device type was rm-635. This is also shown to you in the NCS. Be sure that the folder name is written in lowercase letters.

Download of the operating system

To access the Nokia server you can start the downloaded software Navifirm. Top left of the program window you will find a drop down where you "Nokia Care Suite" selects. Then you a list of Nokia devices will be presented. You choose where your Windows Phone from just looking at the list to the right of the desired operating system. Finding yourself facilitates the search box below the list. We recommend you to choose the unlocked German version, as we did. (See picture)

Then you choose your download location and deletes the check mark in "Use Product Code as final path". Now you can download the operating system.

Now comes an important step. Copies the previously stored product code to the clipboard and replace the three files shown the product-specific code.

Detailed explanation of this approach

On the right side of the support tools do you see when your device is connected, a "Basic Info".
Ye that will unfold and copied the "Product Code". With me then there: Product Code 059P349
your just click on the line and press ctrl + c.
Then you create a Word document, or the like, and stores therein.
If ye then have downloaded the operating system, you can see in 3 files a code.
In these files, where another product code is, instead, you write your in, so the Nokia Care Suite believes that this is an update that is designed for your device.
These files will change it so that they look like something like this BUT of course you copied purely YOUR Product Code! For me (and only me) it looks like this: (please do not use my)

Flashing the operating system

Now the Nokia Care Suite starts again and goes back into the Product Support Tool. Click File on the top right, then click on Preferences and add the download path. The files should be located so here:

C :/ Program Data / Nokia / Offers / Products / [device-type]

Now click in the lower right corner on a small cube and click "rescan data packages". Is your download location correctly, this should turn green. Now everything is ready.

Finally, you should ensure that your Lumia are on the homescreen. Then you right click on "Programming" and selects refurbishment.

Click on "start" and the flash starts. This takes about 10-15 minutes and your Windows Phone could be started while a couple of times.

When the update is completed successfully, you have a fully functional Windows Phone 7.8 device.
